West Brom and Villa fans angered by tweet

Match of the Day bosses have angered West Brom and Villa supporters after delivering a snub to the West Midlands derby.

Despite it being one of football's oldest rivalries, the fixture was ignored when the programme listed next season's key derby meetings on its Twitter account yesterday.

Clashes in Manchester, Liverpool, the north-east and north London were all featured in a Tweet headed "the ones that really matter."

That prompted a playful riposte from Albion, who posted from their own official Twitter account.

Fans of both clubs meanwhile made their feelings known, with Albion fan Dominic Chapman posting the message: "You're worse than sky (sic) aren't you really? Where is Albion Villa for the Midlands?"

Villa host the Baggies on September 19, with the return fixture at the Hawthorns on January 23.

Both clubs won their respective home games in the league last season, with Villa prevailing in the FA Cup sixth round, a match broadcast live on the BBC.

Tim Sherwood's side will start next season at Bournemouth on August 8. It will be the two clubs' first-ever meeting in the top flight.
