The Express & Star's home for Grassroots

We're putting the spotlight on the people who love sport and go the extra mile to help others.

We also want your reports and pictures from your teams and leagues, whatever the sport.

Together with our new dedicated Grassroots editor Nick Elwell and Grassroots reporter Matt Viney, here at the Express & Star, I want to showcase all that's good in local sport.

However, we also want to know the issues facing grassroots sportsmen and women, young and old, so if there are problems with your pitches or trouble at your track, we want you to tell us about it.

You may feel that your sport does not receive the publicity or recognition that it deserves. Well, here is your chance to put that right.

Our aim to is celebrate the achievements of all that is good in our region's sport and also tackle issues facing those who do their best.

What's more, we want to focus on the work our clubs do in the community and celebrate the unsung heroes who work so tirelessly for the good of their sports.

We also want to hear your club news and we're planning special focus reports on sports clubs across our area.

So if you are an aspiring athlete, a great golfer, a demon darts player, a hotshot on the snooker baize or even handy with a croquet mallet, we want to hear your stories.
