West Bromwich Albion strikers Saido Berahino and Brown Ideye set to withdraw from international duty

Albion strike duo Saido Berahino and Brown Ideye appear set to withdraw from international duty as they look to shake off injuries for two crucial Premier League games.

Berahino seems likely to pull out of the England Under-21s squad while Ideye is poised to miss his long-awaited Nigeria comeback as the pair target the Baggies' home games against QPR and Leicester.

Boss Tony Pulis was set to speak to his forwards today about their injuries but there were clear indications last night that they will be forced out of their countries' plans.

Ideye's knee injury kept him out of Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Manchester City while Berahino has been playing for several weeks with painkilling injections in his foot.

Pulis is focusing on back-to-back home games against top-flight strugglers Rangers and the Foxes on April 4 and 11 respectively.

"We're hoping Brown will be OK," said Pulis.

"I hoped he'd be fit on Saturday but he's still feeling it and I couldn't take the chance.

"Saido has been called up for the under-21s, so we'll speak to him and see what he's like."

Berahino was due to figure in under-21s friendlies against Czech Republic and Germany while Ideye was hoping to end his lengthy international exile after being included in the Nigeria squad to face Bolivia and South Africa.
