Transfer Rumours - January 12
Expressandstar.com bring you all of the latest transfer talk from Wolves, West Brom, Aston Villa and Walsall.
We are not saying they are true – just that they are out there.
WOLVES
Wolves defender Roger Johnson will come back into Sheffield Wednesday's sights if they fail to keep hold of Claude Dielna this month.
The Owls' French stopper is interesting West Brom and, should he depart, Johnson could return to Hillsborough on loan, where he spent three months last season.
WEST BROM
West Brom boss Tony Pulis has told chairman Jeremy Peace his two top striking targets are Demba Ba and Jamie Vardy in this transfer window.
Former Newcastle United and Chelsea striker Ba is now at Turkish club Besiktas, where he has scored 16 goals in 21 games this season.
Both the Baggies and Queens Park Rangers are apparently both interested in the 29-year-old, who could command high wages for a move.
Albion also have Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy on their list, who could warrant a £5million fee but a lower salary in the long run.
ASTON VILLA
Aston Villa are bracing themselves for a double raid from Liverpool for midfielder Fabian Delph and star striker Christian Benteke.
The Reds are prepared to offer £7.5million for England international Delph, who is out-of-contract at Villa Park in the summer.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers wants reinforcements for when captain Steven Gerrard leaves the club at the end of the season.
Villa striker Christian Benteke is also in Rodgers' sights, as he hunts for more firepower in attack, and could test the waters with a £15million bid.
The claret and blues have their own transfer targets, though, and are on the trail of Spanish midfielder Carles Gil, who came through the ranks with Valencia.
The Primera Liga outfit would prefer to loan out the 22-year-old, but Villa are keen on a permanent transfer and are willing to bid £4.7million.
WALSALL
All quiet at the Banks's Stadium today.
