Albion no to a third Craig Dawson bid
Albion have rejected a third bid from Burnley for defender Craig Dawson, it emerged today.
It's understood the newly-promoted Clarets' latest offer is in excess of £1.5m for the 24-year-old.
Other, higher-ranked clubs are now showing an interest in the former England Under-21 international and are prepared to pay more than Burnley.
But while Dawson appears to be edging closer to The Hawthorns exit door, another stopper is poised to make his debut for the club.
Joleon Lescott is set for his public Baggies bow in today's lunchtime friendly at Nottingham Forest (1.30pm).
Lescott is fit again after a calf injury sidelined him from the behind-closed-doors 2-0 win over Bury on July 12, while captain Chris Brunt is available following a hernia operation.
Victor Anichebe has been struggling with illness but is hopeful of playing a part against Forest.
But there is no eagerly-awaited debut at the City Ground for £10m new signing Brown Ideye as he is still in Nigeria awaiting his work permit.
Stephane Sessegnon will also miss out again due to his involvement with Benin in their African Nations Cup qualifier with Malawi the same day. The forward will return to The Hawthorns early next week. James Morrison (knee) and Gareth McAuley (tight calf) will again not be involved.
Meanwhile, Albion are one of nine clubs tracking Stoke's American right-back Geoff Cameron.
The Baggies have joined Sunderland, Hull, Swansea and Southampton among those interested in the 29-year-old USA World Cup star.
