Jodie Stimpson confirmed in England Triathlon team for Glasgow 2014
Jodie Stimpson was today confirmed in Team England's triathlon squad for the Commonwealth Games.
The Oldbury athlete, who is currently second in the World Triathlon Series, was expected to be named after qualifying last season.
But her place has been rubber stamped today and she will be joined by Vicky Holland and Lucy Hall in the women's team.
She said: "The closer it gets to the Commonwealth Games the more excited I'm getting. It's a major home games and it will be brilliant to represent Team England in front of my friends and family. Having missed out on the Olympics I'm doubly determined to be up there and fighting for a medal in Glasgow."
Olympic champion Alistair Brownlee and brother Jonathan, who won bronze at London 2012, make up the men's side with former national champion Aaron Harris.
The individual events are on July 24 before two men and two women compete in the mixed relay two days later at Strathclyde Country Park.
"To win a medal at a home Games is something every athlete wants to achieve and I feel very lucky to have this opportunity again just two years on from London," said Alistair Brownlee.
"Having the crowd behind you provides a huge boost and I can't wait to get to Strathclyde Park and give it my best."
