McNaught warns Villa to hurry up on sale
Villa were today still in limbo as Ken McNaught insisted the club will suffer if the uncertainty continues through the summer.
The claret and blue favourite reckons fans will become restless should the club not come up with a clear plan.
Boss Paul Lambert and chief executive Paul Faulkner are back in the UK after meeting with owner Randy Lerner in New York last week.
They are expected to reveal Villa's short-term plan soon after Lerner confirmed he will sell the club.
Lambert's position is unclear, although he is expected to continue as manager for the time being.
"It's a worrying time for Villa fans at the moment," said McNaught, the 1982 European Cup winner, who also played for Albion in the mid-80s. "It has been tough for the last few seasons but the fans, to their credit, have continued to turn up every week to support the team. "They have been brilliant with the support they have shown but clubs can't expect that kind of loyalty forever, especially with everything which is going on.
"I don't know what level season ticket sales are at the moment but I would have thought plenty of fans will wait and see before parting with their money."
