ASTON VILLA

As we suggested yesterday Aston Villa are closing in on a deal for Nice striker Yannick Djalo. The 25-year-old is available on a free transfer after Fifa refused to ratify his transfer from Sporting Lisbon in August, leaving him unable to play for the French side.

WEST BROM

QPR manager Neil Warnock has lined up West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie as an alternative January transfer target to Jermain Defoe.

WALSALL

Connor Deards has returned to the Banks's Stadium following a successful loan spell with Redditch United in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division.
