Walsall's Danny Clews may have buried the hatchet and become a Facebook friend of Andrew Patterson but the two will be enemies again at Birmingham's Tower Ballrooms.

Clews and Patterson first met at Walsall Town Hall where the Brummie, in his opponent's hometown, pulled a last round stoppage win out of the bag.

Patterson appeared to be losing the fight but never quits and, with Clews switching off, ended up with his hand raised after the fourth round.

Clews' unbeaten record went with it and the 23-year-old was so heartbroken he considered retiring - after two professional bouts.

The boxing bricklayer instead swore revenge and is determined to make amends next Friday night, even after befriending his nemesis on the social networking site.

He said: "I was gutted last time, I was going to pack it in. It was my hometown, as well, but everyone seen what happened.

"I am a more clever boxer than getting into a brawl again and, if that happens, I will definitely pack it in.

"My last fight taught me a lesson and, hopefully, I will redeem myself on September 23.

"I know exactly what he's about now, he's no mug and I think I took him a bit lightly last time.

"I fancy my chances of beating him, but I have got to be stronger this time and I just want to get the win and move on.

"Me and Andrew still speak to each other on Facebook, there's no bad blood or anything, we will get in there and have a pint after!

"But I wanted this fight to clean my record up."

Clews admitted his defeat last time was in large part down to himself but insists he knows what to expect this time.

"I felt like I was beating him easily last time, but he's strong and fit and caught me with a good shot at the end.

"It was my mistake, my hands were down but it probably looked worse than it was."
