Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr believes he has signed a player "with incredible potential" in new defender Tom Marshall.

Harriers announced the capture on a one-year deal of the 23-year-old yesterday afternoon, who was effectively a free agent after leaving Tamworth this summer.

The former Lambs captain has been known to Burr ever since his days starting out at Hednesford, before going on to play for Eastwood and then Tamworth last season.

The Harriers manager is building a reputation for tapping into young talent and improving them as players, also working with the England C international team as assistant boss.

And Burr appears excited with the latest addition to his ranks and believes he may have found another diamond in the rough to polish at Aggborough.

He said: "There aren't that many young, central defenders with a good left foot these days, certainly not with the amount of experience Tom has picked up during the last couple of years.

"I remember watching him as a teenager at Hednesford and you have to say he is a player with incredible potential - we want to tap into that and bring him on even further.

"I must admit, I was quite surprised when I learned Tom was unattached and available on a 'free,' if you like.

"In that sense, this is a really good signing for us."
