Walsall captain Andy Butler has admitted the Easter weekend will make or break the Saddlers' season.

The skipper reckons their chances of beating the League One drop hinge on their key games with Sheffield Wednesday and Oldham.

The Saddlers dropped back into the relegation zone after Notts County's 1-0 win at Tranmere on Tuesday and sit a point below fifth bottom Dagenham & Redbridge.

They host the Owls on Saturday before Monday's trip to Oldham and Butler has pinpointed them as key games in the survival countdown.

He said: "It's an important weekend for everyone at the club. Oldham is a big game which could decide whether we're up or down. Let's go there with the belief we can get another three points.

"Wednesday will bring a lot of fans so hopefully we can get everyone going. Hopefully their season is dead and over now.

"They are not going to push for the play-offs or get relegated, so hopefully they'll have a mindset of not being bothered and we can turn them over."

Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Brighton hit their survival hopes but Butler backed them to handle the pressure ahead of the final four games.

He said: "We're tough enough. We've got players who can win games single-handedly.

"I believe we'll stay up."
