16:55: It's a mixed bag for our Premier League teams in the region this afternoon but it's joy for Albion in another day to remember at the Hawthorns, as the Baggies come from behind to exact revenge for boss Roy Hodgson against his former employers Liverpool.

It was a day to forget for Wolves, who were shipping goals for fun as they slumped to a demoralising defeat at Newcastle, Mick McCarthy's men beaten 4-1 away from home today.

Villa's rollercoaster at Everton ended with a point apiece at Goodison Park after the home side led, only for the claret and blues to go into the lead, before an equaliser ensured the spoils were shared.

Birmingham took an almighty leap from the relegation places to 14th place after a home win against Bolton, a late reply couldn't halt Blues in a welcome victory for the Carling Cup winners.

Wolves hit the road minus the injured Kevin Doyle but with the club's England international Matt Jarvis in tow, with Newcastle lying in wait on Tyneside as Mick McCarthy's men look to pull off a result at St James' Park that will pull them out of the relegation places.

Villa's defeat to Wolves left them within a point of the drop zone before the international break and heightened the pressure on manager Gerard Houllier, who takes his team to Everton today anxious to steer the club back away from the trapdoor.

Birmingham also have serious relegation worries and welcome Bolton to St Andrew's below Wolves and only a point ahead of bottom club Wigan.

Blues may still have a game in hand on all of the bottom half of the table but, if they lose again today, fears of the drop will be just as severe in the blue half of the city tonight.

Walsall's fight against relegation in League One will have to wait for another week, as the Saddlers next play Plymouth next Saturday.
