16:55: It's all over for our teams in the region today and the big news came before 3pm, as Albion beat Birmingham at St Andrew's in the West Midlands derby to give Roy Hodgson his first win as boss as they climb to 16th place, dumping Blues into the bottom three.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Villa manager Gerard Houllier has some questions to answer after his decision to rest key players for the FA Cup defeat to Manchester City in midweek backfired - they lost 3-2 at Bolton today in any case.

And Walsall will take a point at Swindon this afternoon as the Saddlers remain clear of the League One relegation places, against a side with manager Paul Hart in charge for the first time but a draw - pleasingly for the Saddlers - leaves the Robins in the bottom four.

12:30: It's all hands to the pump for our teams in the region this weekend as we approach the business end of the season with a West Midlands derby and relegation six-pointer all rolled into one at St Andrew's, as Albion go to Birmingham.

Watching with interest will be Wolves who will looking to see how the end result benefits them in the Premier League survival scramble, although the visit of the much-fancied Tottenham to Molineux tomorrow hardly makes further points cut and dried.

Villa's recent good form has taken them from the relegation zone into mid-table but boss Gerard Houllier is under-fire after a weakened team bowed out of the FA Cup at Manchester City in midweek, so all eyes will be on whether it was worth it at Bolton.

And Walsall have done ever so well to get out of the League One relegation places from bottom when Dean Smith took over as boss but another battle against a survival rival looms large today at Swindon, who appointed Paul Hart as their new manager this week.
