Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr will be restricted to loan signings in the January transfer window and won't be letting anybody leave Aggborough.

Burr is currently working on a new list of targets after seeing Michael Gash, Sam Deering and James Dance all join other clubs on loan since the turn of the year.

The Harriers boss even let defender Ollie Thorne join Blue Square Premier rivals Rushden & Diamonds on a month's loan, with a view to a permanent move, to free up room in the wage budget.

That came back to cost him after Lee Vaughan and Michael Briscoe went down with the flu, while Mark Albrighton was suspended for two games, although all three are expected back for Saturday's trip to Barrow.

It left Burr with just four substitutes for Tuesday's home game with Kettering, not that anybody noticed, as the hosts ran out 4-1 winners.

But the manager wants to add rather than subtract from his squad this month and is anxious to avoid being left short again.

However, the search for new players will continue.

He said: "We have got a little bit of money to use but the problem we have got at the minute is that we can't really bring anybody in long term.

"Ollie has gone but that is only for a month, depending on how well he does at Rushden and what happens here regarding injuries.

"It's sods law that we let him out and then lose three centre-halves to injury and suspension, we were down to four substitutes on Tuesday night so we can't let anybody out.

"We won't be letting anybody go but we have got targets that we are still watching and are waiting to see if their clubs will maybe let them out on loan."
