Loan goal ace Reuben Reid believes Walsall have too much quality to remain in their current rut - but admits they need to get out of it soon.

Reid struck in Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to Swindon, a fourth consecutive league loss that has left them languishing in 18th place in League One.

With several games coming up against fellow strugglers - starting at Hartlepool this Saturday - the on-loan Baggies striker agrees the Saddlers need to get back to winning ways soon.

He said: "We're not losing games by two or three goals so we're not really being outplayed, which is the frustrating thing.

"There are just a few basic things that we have to iron out and put them into practice, even just to take draws from these games because we are going to have to pull together somehow and get out of this run of losses.

"It's early and if we get a couple of wins, and teams above us don't do as well, we'll be right back in mid-table.

"What I've seen in these leagues is that teams can go on a run after Christmas and still go on to do things.

"The next few games are going to be key and you always set out to win every game but, in this period, out of the next five games we need to be taking a minimum of ten points."

Reid admitted that the Saddlers are at a loss to explain their poor run of results.

He added: "No-one can really put a finger on why we are in this run but I don't think it will continue.

"It will take one result and things will click together, because the potential is there.

"When you look around the changing room, there are a few guys who have played at a good level of football and had good careers.

"There are younger lads who are going to go on and have good careers."
