Wolves were on the verge of pulling off an upset at Tottenham after taking a half-time lead, but a collapse in the second-half let three goals in for the home team.

Villa were saying goodbye to caretaker boss Kevin MacDonald in his last game in charge at home to Bolton, but his team could not produce a win as the spoils were shared.

The sad story goes on for Walsall as they slipped to their fifth defeat in a row, going behind twice as they lost 2-1 at home to in-form Swindon in League One.

Wolves could face a backlash from a Tottenham team still smarting at being held by Albion and, on their home patch at White Hart Lane, Mick McCarthy's men will need to be up for the challenge if they are to become the latest to upset the Champions League contenders.

It will be an emotional day for Villa caretaker boss Kevin MacDonald, who takes charge of his last game before handing over the reins to new manager Gerard Houllier, with Owen Coyle's Bolton the visitors.

Walsall go into a home game with Swindon desperate to lift the gloom around the Banks's Stadium after four straight defeats, but their visitors Swindon conversely are a side on the up after three wins in a row going into today's League One match.
