Walsall went down to two second half goals from Ashley Barnes and Marcos Painter as Brighton claimed all three points.

To complete a disappointing afternoon for the Saddlers they also had Alex Nicholls sent off 20 minutes from time.

A Jon Macken goal two minutes into injury time at the end of the match was the only consolation for Chris Hutchings' team.

The result leaves Saddlers 10th in the League One table.
