Goalkeeper Ben Foster has breezed into St Andrew's planning to use his £6million move to Birmingham to gain more England recognition.
The Manchester United signing, who won the last of his four caps in November, is keen to get back into the national team after signing a three year contract at Blues.
He said: "I want to get back into the international fold but I know that can only happen if I'm performing consistently for my club.
"The other keepers here have the same aims as me in that they want the No 1 shirt, keep hold of it and in turn further their international ambitions.
"But I don't think that's a problem - if anything it breeds camaraderie."
The 27-year-old believes the switch to St Andrew's is a move in the right direction.
He said: "This is certainly not a step down - I see this as a step forward.
"As soon as I heard about the interest from Birmingham I was straight on the phone to my agent.
"My perception from the outside was that they're a team and a club very much on the up.
"I was very interested from the start and when I spoke to Alex McLeish along with other people in football I made my mind up, because they all gave glowing references."
