Veteran striker Darren Byfield is hoping to whet the appetite of Walsall fans with a pledge to be as good as ever next season.
The 33-year-old plans to get 'super fit' for one last crack at glory with the Saddlers.
He admits: "I can't wait for next season, I haven't had a pre season for the last three or four years and it does take its toll. You've got to get your fitness in the season if you miss the summer.
"We all need a break but I can't wait to come back and get myself super fit because I think I'm going to do really well next season, I want to be fit and come in flying.
"I know in my performances, fitness goals, I'm a much better player when I'm fit and not playing catch-up. When that happens even the best players struggle. It's something I'm looking forward to."
Consistency will be the key for the striker with Byfield adding: "I think fans have seen it in parts but the whole thing about being a professional footballer is the likes of Gerrard and Lampard do it consistently and I haven't done that and neither has that team.
"It is about consistency, if you get the consistency right you play at a higher level and you can take the team to a higher level.
"That's what you've got to aim for as individuals and as a team."
