Walsall duo Rhys Weston and Sam Parkin have left the club by mutual consent as the Saddlers' summer clearout for next season begins.

The pair, who were out of contract in June, left after meetings with boss Chris Hutchings ahead of Saturday's final game of the season at home to Milton Keynes Dons.

Right-back Weston, who had a trial with Motherwell last week, made 110 appearances in three years for the Saddlers, scoring once.

Striker Parkin, signed on a free from Luton last summer, scored three goals in 27 appearances but injuries hampered his progress.

Hutchings said: "I'd like to thank Rhys and Sam for their hard work and effort.

"Rhys has been here for three seasons and has been a valuable member of the squad. I sat down with him and we have both agreed to go our separate ways. The same can be said for Sam, he has been with us this season and has played his part.

"We wish both players all the best for the future."

The likes of Dwayne Mattis, Mark Bradley and Rene Gilmartin are also waiting to hear about their futures with the Saddlers preparing to finalise their budget for next season.

The rest of the squad are due to find out their fates next Monday.
