Walsall winger Steve Jones has vowed to be better than ever after his first goal in five months ended his injury hell and claimed an impressive point at Swindon.

The wide man bagged his 10th of the season in Saturday's 1-1 draw, his first since December after being sidelined for three-and-a-half months with a groin injury.

But Jones believes the scene is set for a big finish and targeted another five goals in the final three games.

He said: "Scoring gives me more confidence to get more. I was in such good form before the injury and I was going into every game feeling I was going to score. I've come back and struggled to find my form but now I've started to recapture it.

"It's very pleasing, I was on a great run before Christmas and then I had three and a half months out injured which killed me. I struggled to get back and hopefully now it's something to build on.

"Getting 10 for the season as a winger is really good but I would have liked to get to 15, we've still got three games left so you can never say never.

"Hopefully I can play next week and get some goals."

Charlie Austin's second-half equaliser pegged Walsall back but Jones insists the point proves the 12th placed Saddlers can mix it with the top teams in League One.

The 33-year-old said: "On our day we know we're a match for anyone, the only team who have outplayed us has been Southampton.

"Coming to a place like Swindon is great. We can pick up a point and show what we can do and we want to improve on last season.

"We want to better it and it shows we're improving as a team and a club."

Jones believes Walsall could have snatched all the points, despite the Robins dominating the second-half.

He said: "Everyone played well, I don't think it was too good for the gaffer because it was end to end at times but we dug in and got the point and could have nicked it at the end. We went in at half time very confident we could repeat it in the second-half.

"We played well, had chances and with a little more composure we could have done it."
