Walsall defender Jamie Vincent claims to know the secret to silence Swindon's hotshots after giving his former club a trial by TV.

The left-back returns to the County Ground for the first time tomorrow since his switch last summer and is primed to face two of League One's hottest strikers.

Twenty five-goal Billy Paynter and Charlie Austin, who has 18 in his debut season, have propelled the Robins to the brink of automatic promotion but Vincent is confident of shackling the hotshot duo.

He said: "We watched Austin on Monday night against Exeter and, after all the hype, he had a quiet game.

"We'll have to marshal him the same way try and cut down amount of crosses. I know Jon-Paul McGovern well and he gets in a lot of good quality crosses.

"Billy is a similar players to Troy Deeney, big build and he's a physical player, he can link up and get in behind.

"He's a good player, you've just got to keep tight and when the ball comes into the box that's when Austin comes alive.

"We have got to keep our concentration."

Swindon sit fifth in League One, three points off second placed Leeds, and Vincent admits the Saddlers are massive underdogs but wants to use the game as a platform to move up the table.

He said: "No one is going to fancy us at Swindon. We want to win every game, I know Swindon is the highlight of the last four games because they are pushing for promotion but we want to finish as high as we can.

"We want to finish better than last year, whether we will or not remains to be seen. 60 points would be a fair total."

Vincent has impressed in defence for the Saddlers this season – making 36 appearances – but is not expecting to be welcomed back to Swindon with open arms.

He said: "I'll go there and enjoy the boos. I shouldn't get booed but fans will, they like to.

"If a legend comes back, like Sam Parkin, he'll always get a good reception whereas I was just a defender and did a steady job."
