Saddlers anger at Terriers' equaliser

Walsall today hit out at the decision to allow Huddersfield's equaliser to stand in their heartbreaking 4-3 defeat at the Galpharm Stadium.
The Saddlers are upset referee David Webb failed to spot a foul on Rene Gilmartin when Antony Kay levelled in stoppage time – just three minutes before Lee Novak's winner capped last night's sensational game.
Troy Deeney's brace and Alex Nicholls' 83rd minute goal saw Walsall fight back from 2-0 down after Mark Hughes was sent off with just 20 minutes gone.
Theo Robinson's penalty and Jordan Rhodes' strike put Huddersfield in charge before the late drama and Deeney is adamant the officials called the third goal wrong.
He said: "What can you say? Theo Robinson had Rene in a double choke hold and Manny (Smith) was being climbed on by Kay, what can you do? Sometimes you get them sometimes you don't, that's football."
Boss Chris Hutchings also believes Kay's header should have been disallowed and that Gilmartin would not go over easily.
"I'd like to question their third goal," he said.
"I thought it was a foul on Rene. There were a lot of players involved and to knock someone of Rene's size over takes some doing."
But despite their disappointment striker Deeney insists the Saddlers must take the positives from a display which they can proud of.
"We all grafted well and after going 3-2 up we should have got at least a point but we showed great desire," said the 21-year-old.
"We scored three goals at Huddersfield, how many people do that? It's notorious for them spanking teams, they've averaged four goals a game there but we did well and everyone can see we made it hard work for them.
"There was that willingness to work for each other, no-one likes losing so everyone digs in that bit deeper.
"The only negative was Hughesy getting sent off. Everyone grafted and we scored three good goals."
Deeney also broke his eight game drought to bag his 12th and 13th goals of the season and has targeted final flourish.
He said: "I'm pleased to get back on the goal trail and that just makes me want to play another game. There are four games left and I'm trying to get to 15, that's the magic number."
