The 22-year-old will join up with the Saddlers from Real Maryland Monarchs with boss Chris Hutchings eager to have a closer look.
Barrajo can play at right-back or in midfield, ticking the versatility box the Saddlers, who lost 1-0 at home to Yeovil last night, always look for.
And boss Hutchings wants to see Borrajo for himself after good reports from America.
"He is a player that has been recommended to us and we'll have a look at him," said Hutchings. "He'll be joining in training for a few days and we'll see how he does."
The Monarchs star has just completed a similar spell with Swedish outfit Llungskile but will join the Saddlers after a successful season in the US.
"Walsall have contacted me after the club's football consultant expressed interest after seeing me play recently," said the New Jersey born defender.
Borrajo plays in the third tier in America, the United Soccer League Second Division, and was named in their team of the year last season.
The Monarchs finished fifth in a 10 team league last season and Borrajo insists he is keeping his options open as he looks to further his career in Europe.
He said: "Sweden is still in the picture. It seems the club is considering their options and doing what is best for Llungskile, which is understandable. But I am considering all my options and keeping Sweden in mind."
The Saddlers are well stocked in defence and Darryl Westlake and Rhys Weston are set to return to training tomorrow after injury.
But boss Hutchings is now sweating on the fitness of Jamie Vincent who twisted his ankle in last night's defeat to the Glovers.
The 34-year-old, who captained the side, received treatment immediately after the game and is a doubt for Saturday's trip to Sou
