Former Birmingham owner David Gold has buried the hatchet with Blues supremo Carson Yeung despite admitting it would have been difficult to see him again.

Gold is pleased Yeung didn't show for West Ham's 2-0 win over Blues on Wednesday after he went to Paris on business.

The former boss has always maintained the new board went back on an agreement to make him chairman after their £81.5million takeover at St Andrew's in November.

Now owner of West Ham, Gold still feels let down by the Hong Kong tycoon.

He said: "I think, under the circumstances it was probably better they weren't there. David Sullivan would have welcomed them with open arms and I probably would have.

"But it just wouldn't have been the same because I think they treated me badly. I can't not be truthful about this.

"I was pleased because – and it's not my way of being unkind – I found it sad the way I was treated made me feel like that."

Birmingham's new owners have always maintained the old regime owe them money, which has caused friction between the parties.

But Gold believes they will settle their differences in time, at a time when his mind is not preoccupied by West Ham's battle against the drop.

He said: "I'm sure it will be healed. I think life goes on, doesn't it. I'm not going to carry a grudge for any length of time, I'm just a little disappointed.

"I think once West Ham are out of their difficulties, in terms of relegation, it will be different. We won but were still have got a problem, because we're battling relegation."

Gold is backing Birmingham to reach Europe with his old side, who go to Derby in the FA Cup fifth round tomorrow, eighth in the Premier League.

He said: "I hope Blues do it. They have done brilliantly, the run they've been on has been absolutely fantastic.

"I don't remember many experiences like that during our 16 years at the club but sometimes it takes all that time to build a squad, an infrastructure and everything.

"I have always wished them well, apart from the other night of course."
