Young Mutley is looking to tear the house down in front of the Sky Sports cameras when the West Bromwich fighter takes on Scott Woolford in Nottingham next Friday night.

Mutley, a former British title holder at welterweight, continues his campaign at light welter with his first outing under promoter Frank Maloney, against the rejuvenated Woolford who has good memories of the Harvey Hadden Leisure Centre.

'The Gent' took the scalp of former English champion Scott Haywood on that very ground last November in a compelling contest, stopped on a cut in the sixth round that had reared it's head two sessions earlier.

All took place under the spotlight of the 'Friday Night Fight' show and Mutley aims to use that platform to make a statement and push himself up the rankings, with eyes on the British crown of Lenny Daws.

And the 33-year-old is expecting fireworks.

He said: "I have got to be switched on straight away, because Scott is coming to win. Fine by me, because the better the fighter, the better I perform.

"This could be a great undercard fight, we have seen the likes of Cello Renda steal the show with a good performance supporting the top of the bill, and Woolford got people talking with a great scrap against Haywood.

"If he will to stand toe-to-toe with me, we could have a really good fight on our hands."

Woolford has only ever been stopped once in 14 fights, and that was on a cut, building up a reputation as a fighter who will keep on coming.

All the work with trainer Jason Shinfield at his famed gym in Derby has been geared towards Mutley being one step ahead, a game-plan the veteran believes will bare fruit on fight night.

He said: "It's a step up for me really, for a run out in the past I have fought foreigners and really struggled to get up for it. You know what they are going to do - tuck up and run. Me chasing someone around the ring for god knows how many rounds is no good to me, so this is just what I need.

"Scott comes forward and can be a bit dirty with his head, but what I do know is that he is going to keep coming and coming. Let him do it, because that way I can carry on banging him. He isn't the greatest of defensive boxers either, so hopefully I will be moving and hitting.

"My hand speed is a lot faster, even though I am still punching just as hard. The main thing I have been working on is my feet, I have been lazy in the past but I am a good runner."
