Wolves twice pulled level as they ended their goal drought with another precious point in a dire battle with rivals Hull at the KC Stadium.
In an utterly forgettable first-half, Hull took an 11th minute with the first real attack when Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink's low left foot drive beat goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann from 20 yards, after Jozy Altidore got away from Christophe Berra too easily.
A bizarre Anthony Gardner own goal got the visitors level three minutes after the break – their first Premier League goal in 448 minutes - before Wolves transfer target Stephen Hunt put Hull back in front with a penalty three minutes later.
But Matt Jarvis spared another damaging defeat with a second equaliser on 67minutes and substitute Geoffrey Mujangi Bia saw a fierce shot beaten away by Hull goalkeeper Boaz Myhill in injury time.
Wolves again played 4-5-1, with David Jones in for Nenad Milijas as their only change from the side that drew with Liverpool.
Mick McCarthy's side tried to force a way back into the game with Jody Craddock, Kevin Foley and Stephen Ward all wide from half chances.
But Berra was presented with the best opportunity in the 25th minute, only to appear to be held back when launching himself for a flying header to meet Jarvis's corner flicked on by Kevin Doyle.
Within minutes, Wolves fans showed their frustration at the lack of a breakthrough by chanting '4-4-2' in protest at the formation.
Things could have been so different if Zubar hadn't blazed high and wide, after Hull failed to clear a routine Ward cross.
If the first-half had been poor, the second burst into life with two goals in six minutes.
Wolves levelled with a comical own goal from Stafford-born Gardner on 49, who sliced a Zubar cross over his own goalkeeper.
But Zubar went from hero to zero three minutes later, after jumping into Altidore when trying to head a harmless cross for a clear penalty.
Hunt needed no second invitation, rifling the spot kick past his former Reading team-mate Hahnemann.
The goals saw the game open up and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink headed wide from an unmarked position, before Jones had Wolves' first on-target effort on 64 minutes by blasting at Myhill from a tight angle after a one-two with Doyle.
The visitors had Hahnemann to thank for not going 3-1 down two minutes later, when the goalkeeper superbly blocked from fellow American Altidore who had outpaced Craddock.
But within a minute, Wolves were level again when Kevin Foley's simple cross evaded three Hull players before dropping to Jarvis, whose low curling effort squirmed in at the far post for his second goal of the season.
