Mark Bradley believes Walsall boss Chris Hutchings can save his transfer budget – as the Saddlers' youngsters are worth their weight in gold.

Snow and ice have rendered Walsall inactive since December 19. But they will be stretched to the limit from Saturday when they return to action against Brighton at the Banks's Stadium – the first of eight League One games in 26 days.

Hutchings is yet to spend in the window, with the free transfer of former loanee Clayton McDonald his only business, and Bradley says he can keep his cash.

He said: "We've got a strong squad with some experience. Whatever the gaffer does will add to it but we're well equipped. There's a lot of young lads who are eager to do well and our fitness levels should be good. We're young, energetic and want to do well."

Saturday's visit of Brighton depends on how the Banks's pitch thaws during the week but the club are confident it will go ahead.
