Fresh from Saturday's postponement against Charlton, Leeds' 1-0 third round win at Manchester United yesterday also means the Saddlers' trip to Elland Road will be rearranged.

Chris Hutchings was due to take his troops to the League One leaders on January 23, but since the Whites are in fourth-round action at Tottenham a new date will be found.

It is the fourth game the Saddlers have had to rearrange in 16 days, after their Christmas and New Year programme was hit by sub-zero temperatures.

Boxing Day's trip to Bristol Rovers was called off, while home clashes with Norwich and Charlton also fell foul of the weather, meaning Walsall haven't played since December 19. They are next due to travel to Southend on Saturday.

Hutchings revealed chairman Jeff Bonser was helping treat the pitch ahead of the Addicks' visit.

The manager said: "The ground staff, including the chairman, had been working on the pitch since the early hours of the morning. When the referee did his initial inspection at 9.30am, he agreed to give it a couple more hours.

"The majority of the pitch was thawing out and playable, but there were still certain areas giving the referee concern and after careful consideration he decided to call the game off.

"In the end we were beaten by the elements."
