Richard Taundry and Jamie Vincent returned to action as Walsall reserves drew 1-1 with Burton at the Banks's Stadium.

Midfielder Taundry had been out since October, suffering a recurrence of a hamstring injury while Vincent had been sidelined after pulling his calf six weeks ago.

Left-back Vincent completed the full 90 minutes yesterday, but Taundry was substituted in the second half of the totesport.com league Central Division clash as he was eased back.

Their return was the positive note in a game which the Saddlers should have wrapped up by half time. Jimmy Phillips fired in a late equaliser after Sam Parkin's header put the Saddlers ahead.

A masterclass from Brewers keeper Danny Marsh thwarted the hosts but they should have been home and dry after Alex Nicholls, Parkin and Josh O'Keefe all spurned opportunities.

Walsall finally scored when Parkin connected with Sam Adkins's cross at the far post on 56 minutes.

The striker was immediately substituted with the Saddlers' trip to Millwall on Saturday in mind, as Burton started to recover ending in their equaliser.

Walsall (4-4-2): Gilmartin, Westlake, McDonald, Partridge, Vincent, Till, Taundry (Geddes 76), O'Keefe, Adkins; Parkin (Grigg 56), Nicholls (Paterson 55)
