Missing link to play-off's for Weston

Chris Hutchings' men travel to Colchester knowing a win could propel them into the play-offs for the first time this season. They are 11th, two points off the top six, while their hosts are fourth but Weston reckons they must find some form to make a breakthrough.

The right-back said: "Colchester are a good side, but, with regards to us being top six, contenders only time will tell. Consistency is always an issue for us.

"I don't think our endeavour can be questioned, as we always work hard, but sometimes we've lacked the quality in both boxes.

"But we go into these games confident and look to get something out of them. We've only lost two in nine in the league so we're not struggling, we just need to turn draws into wins."

The 28-year-old right-back will be part of the defence charged with stopping in-form Kayode Odejayi, who has five goals in his last five games.

Boss Hutchings needs to choose between skipper Mark Hughes, Manny Smith or fit again Clayton McDonald – or pick all three in the centre – and Weston is confident they can stop United's direct approach.

Weston said: "We've got the personnel who can cope with that type of attack. Whoever plays out of the three centre-backs, be it Manny, Hughesy or Clayton, they are more than capable of dealing with them.

"We have to hope our ability can come through and we have to influence the game as much as they do, if not more. It will be a tough challenge but one we're looking forward to."
