Former Birmingham chairman David Gold is hoping to still have a role to play at the club.

Gold was replaced by Vico Hui as chairman after 12 years in the wake of Carson Yeung's successful takeover after rejecting a post as vice-chairman, but has not given up hope of remaining at St Andrew's in some capacity.

He watched Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Arsenal from the directors' box at the Emirates Stadium and is happy to help out if his services are required.

Gold said: "I went to the game on Saturday pretty much under my own steam.

"I had an amicable chat with Carson Yeung's new team and I have not given up hope of staying on in some capacity.

"I am available to help if I can be of any help. I don't think anybody can question my affection for the club.

"Matters are up in the air and my situation is absolutely clear.

"So really I'm waiting for the final word. Maybe Carson will clear it all up and make it known what can or can't be."
