Table is liar, says Saddlers winger
Steve Jones today insisted there is more to come from Walsall and reckons they are in a false position in the table.
Steve Jones today insisted there is more to come from Walsall and reckons they are in a false position in the table.
The Saddlers sit 15th in League One, five points off the play-offs ahead of Exeter's visit.
Jones, who scored in the 2-2 draw with Carlisle in the Saddlers' last home outing, says they deserve to be higher.
"I don't think it's a fair reflection, I think we should be higher. We've dominated quite a lot of the games, especially at home," he said.
"There have been lot of games at home we should have won, like Leeds, and to lose the goals as we did was disappointment.
"Against Swindon we battered them and should have been 4-0 up at half-time and it ended up 1-1.
"Charlton are the best team we've played so far."
The winger started his first game since August in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at MK Dons. He knows he has a fight on to keep his place and expects the Saddlers to become stronger as the season wears on.
"It's great, there's more to come that's the good thing about us," said the 32-year-old.
"We've let goals slip and had we not we'd be in the top four. There are quite a few new faces and it can take up to six months to gel so the signs so far are quite good. "
