Bradley an inspiration to Walsall youth

Walsall manager Chris Hutchings has told his young guns to use midfielder Mark Bradley's Wales international call-up as an inspiration to themselves.

The Saddlers midfielder was an unused substitute in Wales' 2-0 World Cup qualifier in Liechtenstein last night after winning his first call up to the senior squad.

Bradley is due back tomorrow ahead of Saturday's League One home game with Exeter and boss Hutchings reckons others should follow Bradley's example.

The manager said: "That's what targets young players have to set. Bradley has done that and it's something the other young players should try to achieve.

"We've got young players at the football club, like Darryl Westlake who has done well. That will be his target, not only to get into the side here but to get into the England under-19s.

"If you get international recognition your profile becomes much higher."

But Hutchings knows Bradley's achievement could see managers take a closer look at the 21-year-old.

He said: "Everyone has a price, but we want to be successful in our own right. If bigger clubs come in then we're not going to stand in their way if all the valuations are met, but we don't want to go down that route."

Wales chief John Toshack called on Bradley after injuries ravaged his international squad this week.
