Saddlers star eyes play-offs

Matt Richards today insisted the Walsall machine just needs fine tuning to mount a League One play-off bid.

The midfielder believes the four points won from Huddersfield and Carlisle can be the launchpad to make an assault on the top six.

Saddlers go to play-off hopefuls MK Dons on Saturday before another away trip to in-form Colchester on October 24 knowing victory would propel them up the table. And, with just one defeat in eight games, Richards says the signs of progress are there.

He said: "We've dropped a few points, drawing when we should have been winning, but we're improving every single game and we're slowly getting it right.

"We've got to get that consistency and hopefully we can continue to improve. We're not losing games, we're still picking up points and the more we win the better position we'll be in."
