Accrington v Walsall Carling Cup 1st Rnd 2009Chris Hutchings today challenged Alex Nicholls to maintain his electric form after admitting the winger's confidence is sky high.

The 21-year-old has produced two superb displays against Tranmere and Swindon after replacing the injured Peter Till.

Saddlers will look to extend their five match unbeaten run at Hartlepool on Saturday and Nicholls has been urged to keep up the good work.

"He is a constant threat and he will have to keep doing it," said boss Hutchings. "That comes with getting used to the role, knowing what I want from him and believing in himself. If he keeps performing like that his confidence will be sky high.

"His general play and work ethic, which he has to put in, has been good as well as his quality."
