West Bromwich's Young Mutley is planning to send a message to the welterweight world by demolishing Midland champion Dave Ryan in Nottingham next month.

The 33-year-old takes on the reigning titlist at the Trent Arena on October 17 with the belt on the line.

A return to action will end a frustrating few months for the former British champion, whose quest to regain his crown from Kell Brook continues.

Now the big-punching veteran is back with a measure of revenge in mind, after Ryan smashed through his 'First Team' stablemate Scott Evans to lift the strap in May.

Brook then defends the Lonsdale crown against Michael Jennings 13 days later in Liverpool, a challenger that Mutley beat to win the belt in 2006.

And the former champ wants his name etched into the thoughts of 'Special Kell' by then.

He said: "I am not in there because I want the Midland title, this is my chance to send out a message to all of the welterweights, and two in particular.

"If John O'Donnell wants a fight I would like to meet him, and Kell Brook has the British title that I want back.

"When Dave fights me, it will be him getting the hammering this time. He's not in my league."
