No doubts for firing again Deeney

The striker scored his first goals since May as the Saddlers ran out 3-2 winners at Prenton Park on Saturday – their first win since the opening day.

Deeney, who penned a new contract last week, is adamant fears over his drought never entered his mind.

He said: "Is it a weight off my shoulders? I was asked that question last week and I don't really see it that way. If I score goals I score goals. If I don't then I just want to play well for the team.

"I should have had three, maybe four, but the keeper pulled off a brilliant save. It was very pleasing to get off the mark but even more pleasing take three points.

"Winning is all that matters. We are all professionals and we want to win. We have some tough games coming up."

Darren Byfield had scored the Saddlers' first goal for 416 minutes, before Deeney's second-half raid cancelled out goals from Chris Shuker and Alan Mahon.
