Walsall new-boy Mark Hughes has hailed team-mate Clayton Ince as the best goalkeeper in League One – and has the team-sheet to prove it.

The veteran keeper has penned a new one-year deal and the Saddlers defender rates him so highly he picked him in his PFA team of the year last season.

Ince was the final member of last season's side who were offered new deals to sign, after he returned to training following Trinidad and Tobago's World Cup qualifiers – to the delight of Hughes.

The 22-year-old said: "He was in my team of the year when you pick your PFA side, because when we played them he took so much pressure off his defence.

"He comes and catches thing, where you wonder how he got there in the first place. He's a good goalie and he will help the back four.

"Obviously I can't put him in again but hopefully others will pick him next year."
