The 20-year-old has penned a one-year deal, following his exit from Blackburn Rovers and adds much needed depth to the Saddlers' engine room.

O'Keefe attracted interest from Championship sides Blackpool and Derby last season, even having a two-month trial at Pride Park, before leaving Ewood Park.

He made 12 appearances for Rovers' reserves last season, scoring once.

The midfielder follows Mark Hughes and Steve Jones as new arrivals and Hutchings is thrilled to have got his man.

He said: "Josh is a player that we have been monitoring for some time. This is a chance for him to develop and go on to bigger and better things on the first-team stage."
