Sheen the Marine back in action

Halesowen's Royal Marine Keith Sheen aims to take out five months of frustration on Andy Patterson at Wolverhampton Civic Hall.

The 29-year-old has not fought since February, with two planned bouts against Coventry's James Flinn cancelled.

One was called off due to Sheen's commitments with the forces, while a second fell foul of a show cancellation.

Now the Black Country boxer will finally be back in action next Friday night against new pro Patterson, looking to build on back-to-back victories over Danny Coyle and Karl Taylor so far.

The welterweight will also be looking for his first stoppage, with Sheen hoping that he is not playing chase this time.

He said: "I am raring to go, it's been a long wait for my next fight and now it's nearly here. To miss my last one was disappointing but I am not moaning about it. That's life as a Marine, it's a full on job.

"Of course I will be looking for my first stoppage, but nine times out of ten it's down to who you are in there with whether that will be possible.

"You have to be against someone who will meet you in the centre of the ring. My last two fights, I have had to go looking for my opponent."

Sheen has not forgotten about Flinn either.

'The Force' has emerged to much fanfare, while 'The Marine' has had to wait in the shadows to earn his headlines.

All promises a potentially intriguing battle if the two ever make it head-to-head, one the Black Country prospect is very interested in taking on.

He said: "I still want to meet James in the ring, we have seen it called off twice already but I still have hope that could happen in the autumn or winter.

"He is a good lad and it would be a great test for me. It would be a real feather in my cap for me to beat him, what a great win to have on your record."
