Deano now back to his best

Dean Harrison has promised he is fighting fit ahead of his bout at Wolverhampton Civic Hall that could be the platform to the English title.

The Wolverhampton light-welterweight is back in action on July 17 eyeing the national belt, which is likely to be vacated by Lenny Daws after he was made mandatory challenger to Ajose Olusegun's British crown.

Harrison has fought for both before and is desperate to get back in the hunt again, feeling that he could follow Daws' example to the Lonsdale strap. But he will have to do better than he did against Ali Wyatt last month, when a thyroid problem stopped him competing at his natural weight and led to a laboured - albeit winning - performance.

The 25-year-old has since seen a specialist to cure the problem and reports a better bill of health ahead of fight night.

He said: "I have had some supplement tablets that seems to have done the trick, along with the visit to the doctor.

"I reckon with a good win I will be next in line to fight for the English title, which is something I want, and then seriously start looking at the British title again."
