Zubar again linked with Wolves

The gathering pace of the club's player hunt has been signalled by more overseas reports linking Wolves to other targets.

The club were cool on Marseille central defender Ronald Zubar a fortnight ago, but now there are claims they have agreed a £2.5m fee for the 23-year-old – and that the Guadeloupe-born stopper was due at Molineux for talks and a medical.

There is also renewed speculation that Watford's 29-year-old goalscoring winger Tommy Smith, who played for Mick McCarthy for a season at Sunderland, was another target.

Chief executive Jez Moxey is refusing to give anything away – but, like chairman Steve Morgan, is optimistic the club will land their targets.

Moxey said: "All I will say is that we continue to pursue the players we believe can strengthen our squad for the Premier League."
