The 19-year-old has signed a new one-year deal, after making 11 appearances in his debut campaign last season.

But Sansara is now desperate to emerge as a big player for boss Chris Hutchings, especially after the release of former rival Paul Boertien.

He said: "This is a big season for me. I have been a professional for a couple of years now and it seems people have been talking about me breaking through into the first team for a while.

"Now I want to make a name for myself and establish myself as the first-choice left-back.

"Last year was a great season for me. I broke into the first team, so now I want to get back to pre-season training and hit the ground running."

Sansara confirmed there was other interest, but never wanted to leave the Saddlers as he has big ties to the area and the club.

He said: "I think there were a few clubs interested, but there were no concrete offers on the table.

"Anyway, I was always going to sign for Walsall. I am a homegrown lad, born and bred in Walsall, my family and neighbours are all Walsall fans."
