Walsall have appointed David Hamilton as chief scout as boss Chris Hutchings began to re-shape the Saddlers.
The 48-year-old worked with Hutchings at both Derby and Wigan and has been a regular visitor to the club's training ground since January.
He said: "I am delighted to be working with Chris again. We had an excellent working relationship at both Wigan and Derby.
"I feel sure that that will continue here at Walsall.
"Chris and Martin (O'Connor) are both very ambitious and I am looking forward to helping them succeed."
