Hutchings has clocked up the miles identifying potential targets for next season but the Saddlers boss insists he will not rush into making signings.

He has already been spotted watching the first leg of Shrewsbury's League Two play-off semi-final against Bury.

The club have offered new deals to eight players but young midfielder Richard Davies is the only man to sign so far, meaning the recruitment of any new faces is temporarily on hold.

The manager said: "We are always looking and we have been from the day we arrived at the club.

"There are one or two players who we have watched and talked about but first and foremost we've got to make sure we know what is happening with the players we've got, then we can look closer at bringing people in.

"There is no point in me talking to a player and trying to get him into the club, if we have already offered a contract to a player who might be able to do the same job.

"We have to give the players we have offered contracts to the chance toreply to our offer.

"We would like to get things moving, but you don't need to have players signed up for the first month of pre-season and there will be time to get things done."
