Hutchings may turn to young guns

Chris Hutchings won't hesitate to blood Walsall's young guns in the final games of the season as he looks to experiment.

The Saddlers boss is considering giving Josh Craddock, Richard Davies and Hassan Bacchus some much needed first team experience ahead of Saturday's visit of Huddersfield.

The Terriers are ninth in League One, with little chance of making the play-offs, meaning only pride is at stake at the weekend against the 11th-placed Saddlers.

Hutchings, who deployed an experimental 4-3-1-2 formation in the 2-1 win at Stockport on Monday, is tempted to tinker with his team.

He said: "They're all tough games, no 'gimmes', no matter who you're playing.

"We've got to be fair to other teams and put out our best team but if people aren't performing, I won't be frightened to put the young boys on.

"They are good enough. I've got high hopes for one or two, but it's a gradual process of not throwing them in too early and them being a fish out of water.

"It's a softly, softly approach that you've got to take with the young ones."

But Hutchings admits the young players are desperate to play following their recent appearances on the bench for the Saddlers.

Keeper Clayton Ince is expected to be available for selection following a family bereavement, meaning Rene Gilmartin's place in goal comes under threat.
