The highly-rated young striker hit a double after giant teenager Chris Wood notched the opener on nine minutes just three days after his shock first team debut at Portsmouth on Saturday.

Romaine Sawyers bagged Albion's other goal with Zavon Hines on target twice for the Hammers to make it 2-1 and 4-2.

Wood missed an early chance but less than a minute later the New Zealander pounced on Seb Lake-Gaskin's through-ball and finished well past keeper Peter Kurucz.

The Baggies doubled their lead two minutes before half-time when Wood shielded the ball and set up Sawyers, whose strike took a deflection past Kurucz.

Hines reduced the arrears early in the second half, pouncing after a smart save from Dean Kiely.

But Wood held off his marker and teed up Nigerian-born Elford-Alliyu to slot home on the hour mark.

Sam Mantom's excellent pass set Elford-Alliyu away and he skipped around Kurucz before finishing. The visitors grabbed a second on 81 minutes.
