Queudrue warning for vital clash

Birmingham defender Franck Queudrue admits his side can forget about winning the Championship if they lose against Wolves.

Victory for the visitors would put the leaders eight points ahead of second-placed Blues with five games left.

Queudrue accepts that deficit would be too much to make up to overhaul Mick McCarthy's men.

He said: "If we lost to Wolves then they would need eight points from five games and so I would find it hard that they would lose all of their remaining games. If we lose it will be a big blow for automatic promotion — but for the Championship title that would be out of reach."

Blues boss Alex McLeish has already compared the clash to an Old Firm derby.

Both managers have experienced of the fierce Glasgow rivalry, with McLeish a former Rangers boss and Wolves chief McCarthy an ex-Celtic player.

McLeish said: "My first Old Firm game got my adrenalin going and I imagine this will be the same.

"This is what it's all about. If you don't fancy challenges like this, you should chuck it. These are the games you should live for."

The St Andrew's chief has a fully-fit squad and hinted that James McFadden could have a part to play, although he indicated there would be few, if any changes.

He said: "McFadden is bursting to get back in and with a player of his ability, I can't ignore it if I think that he's at a very good level.

"We do have food for thought with McFadden, (Marcus) Bent, (Stuart) Parnaby, (Djimi) Traore and Kemy Agustien – all these guys are available again.

"It will be a case of how they look in training. It's doubtful any of them will start unless we have massive problems. I'm not seeing them starting the game."

Wolves have lost one of the stars of their promotion push in Michael Kightly.

But McLeish doesn't believe his absence will have much of a bearing on the game.

"I don't think it will make a huge dent in their armoury because they have good players there."
