'The Black Country Bodysnatcher' ends an eight-month absence from the ring on February 28 with an extra incentive - a shot at Steve Bendall's English title.

But that is not all 'Macca' is after, he wants to add Darren Barker's Commonwealth title later in the year and then onto the big one, another crack at Wayne Elcock's British title.

'Elcock v McDermott: Part One' controversially ended with 'the Black Country Bodysnatcher' stopped in the second round with a gashed left cheekbone last June.

Now the middleweight has enlisted the help of noted trainer Shaun Cooper with one result in mind, defeat of Bendall and on to part two.

McDermott said: "Last year was a hiccup for me, I won't let that happen in 2009. Come this time next year, I want those three titles. It starts at the NIA, then I want those other two fights this year to go with the English title.

"Steve Bendall is a very tough, experienced fighter - but I will be ready for him. I have trained to go the distance, but if the chance comes to end it before then I will be happy to take it. Being out of the ring for so long hasn't really affected me, I have trained so hard throughout that time.

"Being on a big show won't affect me at all. I have been on the big stage before - my concern is the job I need to do."
